Create a Voucher on Newsletter Subscription via Mailchimp

Create a Voucher on Newsletter Subscription via Mailchimp

With Push, you have the ability to set up email list monitoring for new subscribers. When a new subscriber is added, Push automatically assigns a unique code to the designated merge field associated with that subscriber. This merge field can then be included in your Mailchimp email, allowing you to display the code alongside other subscriber data like their first name.

To streamline the process, it is recommended to create a Customer Journey with a custom trigger that specifies the email to be sent to the subscriber. This Customer Journey is seamlessly activated by Push immediately after the code has been applied to the subscriber. The following sequence diagram provides a visual representation of the steps involved when a subscriber is added to your email list:

This integration allows for effortless management of discount voucher codes and their incorporation into Mailchimp emails. By leveraging Push's monitoring capabilities, you can enhance your subscriber experience and ensure efficient delivery of personalised emails containing unique codes.

Getting Started

Before you can start this integration you must ensure that the Mailchimp Advanced Marketing integration is completed as per the steps here.

Once connected to Mailchimp we can head over to Mailchimp to start building out our customer journey. From the side menu click on "All journeys" under the automations heading.

Then use the "build from scratch" button to start building. Name your journey so you can remember what it does later, and ensure also that you are using the correct audience. It needs to be the same audience as registered in Push.

Click "Start Building".

Click "Choose A Starting Point".

From the next pop-up navigate to "API & Integrations" and select "Customer Journeys API".

Once you have your starting point you can continue to add an email or create your own series of actions. Please see the Mailchimp documentation for specifics on this. But for the basic set-up you'll need to at least send an email to the subscriber.

When building your email, please ensure you include the "push_vouchercode" merge tag in the location where you want to display the voucher code.

Once your email has been built we need to add the event URL to Push so we can communicate that the voucher code has been created.

To get the event URL, you'll need to head back to the customer journey in question and select the top event. Usually called "Customer joins" and looks like this:

From here you'll see a URL in red, it will be something like this:

Finally, jumping back to Push. Head over to the admin area and then Settings > Integrations. From within the Mailchimp Marketing section, you'll see an area to enter the URL and configure the rules around your promotion.

Important:
Please ensure your customer journey is active and saved before testing.
