Pre-order Deposit Payments
Taking a pre-order deposit is a great way of ensuring your get the sale for incoming stock, but it does require that you keep on top of your orders and ensure you manage your incoming orders inline with the website pre-order deposit facility.
Making a Product Available to Pre-order
It's very easy to switch on the pre-order functionality. You simply need to enter your deposit amount in the "Preorder Deposit" box against each size / colour variant. The pre-order option will appear as soon as that product is set to out of stock.
Important:
When the preorder deposit value is set to 0.00 the preorder option will not appear. This is effectively switched off.
Viewing a Pre-order in the Admin Area
Pre-orders appear just like normal orders, however there is some extra information at the foot of the order summary. This shows the pre-order deposit amount and the balance that is due to be paid by the customer once the product is in.
Requesting a Balance Payment
To ask the customer to pay the balance you can use the in-built functionality to generate an email. Simply click the "Request Balance Payment" button and edit the email to suit.
The link generated will securely log the customer in and provide them with a payment option for the remainder.
