Voucher Code Promotions

Voucher Code Promotions

Voucher Code promotions are an effective way of rewarding customers or offering "exclusive" deals. Our voucher code system can be used in a number of ways. You can offer a percentage discount off the basket value, or a fixed amount discount. They can be used multiple times or just the once. They can even be automatically generated when a customer signs up to your email marketing list.

Getting Started with Voucher Codes

Finding Voucher Codes

Voucher codes can be found within the PushRetail admin area.

To edit an existing voucher code you can simply click the pencil icon next to it. To create a new voucher code use the aptly named "Create New Voucher Code" button.

In the example above, you can see how we would set up a voucher code for 30% discount on the cheapest Kask Helmet when you purchase a Specialized E-Bike, between 11th August 2022 and 31st August 2022.

The above would be classed as a fairly complex promotion, however, you can understand how this might apply in the real world. The most notable part of this promotion is the use of product groups, and how these play a part in how the promotion performs.

Let's break it down

Firstly, the voucher code itself. It's advisable to keep this as short and concise as possible. The that you want people to enter at the shopping basket is entered into the Voucher Code text box. In this case, it's "KASK_HELMET".

Then, next, because we want to offer a percentage-based discount we enter "30" into the percentage discount text box, giving us 30%.

As we're hoping to only allow this promotion between a range of dates we would need to enter these in the valid dates text box. The first being the start and the second being the end.

Now, as we're only going to offer the discount on a certain type of product, the Kask Helmets, previously we had set-up a Product Group containing the products we wish to discount. This is called "Kask". For more information on setting up product groups please see the product group article here.

We select the product group "Kask" in the Restrict to Group of Products drop down.

In order to activate the promotion, a customer must also purchase a Specialized E-Bike. So again, prior to creating the promotion we've gone and created a product group of all the Specialized E-Bikes. We enter this group into the Group Item must be in Basket drop down.

As we're happy to allow this voucher to be used many times we chose "Allow Multiple Uses" from the Reuse dropdown box. The alternative is to only allow it to be used once.

The promotion we want to run is only valid on the cheapest Kask Helmet in the order, so in this case, we need to change the "Qualification Type" which determines which product to apply the discount to. There are a few options here, most are self-explanatory. However, let's choose "Only the Cheapest Qualifying Product in Basket", this means that only the cheapest Kask Helmet will be subject to the 30% discount.

Most of the options we've covered here are optional, so much simpler promotional codes can be created. With your newfound skills, you can be quite creative with the promotions you offer your customers.

Reviewing Voucher Usage

Once your voucher code has been published and used you can see how many times and even see the orders it was used on.

To do this simply navigate to voucher codes, as illustrated in the previous section and click the pencil icon to the right of the voucher code you wish to view. Once in there you'll see a tab at the top called "usage".

This shows you all the times your voucher code has been used and the status of those orders.
